This weekend my nephew turned 7 years old and he really wanted a Jayhawk Cake. So I whipped up a delicious 2 tier Chocolate Fudge cake with Chocolate Fudge icing. I added fondant dots colored blue and red, a fondant #7, and a fondant Jayhawk made by me. The Jayhawk was surprisingly not as difficult as I thought. It just took some time. I traced a Jayhawk onto parchment paper then rolled out each color of fondant and using an exacto knife cut out the corresponding colors. Then using vanilla I pasted them together. For the finishing touch, I added a blue ribbon border and fondant letters spelling out Happy Birthday Tucker. I'm pretty sure he said this was his best birthday ever! Here are few pictures from the party.

I was on my way to my last Basic Photography class up North near Zona Rosa from work and drove by a pond with geese in it. I have driven by this pond several times before and have always thought it'd be a good picture opportunity. But of course, I never had my camera with me. So last night I had my camera! Yay! It was a nice and sunny evening as well. I got out of my car and walked over towards the geese. Well guess what? They just kept on walking away, including the baby geese. They were cute though. Unfortunately, none of them were in the water but I still got a few good pictures of them. Enjoy :)
A family of geese!
Ahh momma and baby geese!
I just like the sun glares in this photo.
I like the reflection of the trees in the water.
Last week, I took a stroll around River Walk in Leavenworth during my lunch hour. It was very sunny and warm out and I was wearing heels. My feet didn't feel so good after that. I took a bunch of pictures trying to practice what I have learned so far in the Basic Photography class I am taking at Photographx in KC, MO. I now have a favorite picture, which is of the Missouri River from the River Walk. I used Aperture Priority mode with f4.5 aperture and 1/1600 sec shutter speed. Then I took the photo to Photoshop and added a vintage look. I LOVE how it turned out. I hope I can take more photos like this!!!
